Print data preparation

Prepare your print data by adding a white base layer to CMYK images using Roland DG Connect Designer or VersaWorks. These included tools allow precise file configuration and ensure the correct structure before moving on to print production.

Printing on film

Print the design onto Roland DG DTF film using S-PG2 CMYK and white inks. The image is printed onto the film in reverse, then moves directly to powder application while the ink is still wet, supporting an efficient DTF workflow.

Powder application

Apply Roland DG S-Powder to the still-wet ink, then remove any excess. This can be done manually or with a compatible shaker integrated into the workflow, ensuring even coverage across the entire printed surface.

Powder curing

Melt and cure the powder under controlled temperature and time conditions. Using an oven or a shaker with heat extraction and retention functions is recommended to ensure even curing and stable transfer performance.

Heat and pressure transfer

Apply the cured film to the fabric using a heat press at the recommended temperature and pressure. A flatbed heat press is recommended, with pre-press, heat press and second-press steps to improve durability and overall finish.

• only 1 cleaning required (1%), compared to 48 (60%)
• fewer than 3 missing nozzles per colour tolerated, compared to up to 5 for the competing printer

In a longer, 3-month real-world test: a 100% stable operation rate in standard use (80 days, 23 print runs), and 98% in intensive use (90 days, 52 print runs).

The BY2-20 completely rethinks its internal architecture for DTF production:

• dual white ink cartridges (220 or 500 ml), redesigned ink circuit for stable pressure
• redesigned internal cooling system, to limit temperature increase during continuous printing
• filters added on each ink circuit, to capture impurities before the print head
• user-replaceable cap and wiper, front-loading, waste ink cartridge

Beyond cutting, the BY2-20 produces transfer-ready images for cotton, polyester blends, denim, nylon, rayon and other fabrics, for a wide range of textile and apparel applications.
