Polypropylene and polyethylene are among the hardest materials to print: their smooth, low-energy surface makes ink bead up and then flake off at the first rub. Marabu Primer P2 solves the problem before you even start printing.
- Ink that sticks to PP, PE, metals and powder coatings.
- A clean surface: it degreases and prepares the substrate in a single wipe.
- Consistent runs: no more parts rejected for poor adhesion.
- Versatile: works with Marabu screen and digital inks, and with other inks too.

● ● ● The problem
Why ink beads up and flakes off polyolefins
Polypropylene and polyethylene have a very low surface energy. Add fingerprints, dust or invisible additives left over from manufacturing, and the ink has nothing to grip: it retracts, beads up or peels off after curing.
The problem isn’t the ink or the printer — it’s the surface. Primer P2 takes care of it before you print.

● ● ● The solution
What Primer P2 does
A liquid adhesion promoter based on chlorinated polyolefins, P2 creates an interface between the substrate and the ink layer. Marabu designed it for manual pre-cleaning and pre-treatment of PP and metals; it also improves adhesion on powder-coated surfaces.
Uniform results
Irregularities caused by surface contamination disappear.
Less waste
Adhesion is there from the very first part, even on notoriously difficult substrates.
A simple routine
Apply, let it flash off briefly, print.
No lock-in
Works with Marabu screen and digital inks, and with other ink brands too.
● ● ● How to use
Four steps, one cloth
01A clean, dry substrate
Free of grease and fingerprints.
02A thin layer
Apply P2 over the whole area to be printed with a clean, lint-free cloth.
03Let it evaporate
Wait for the solvent to evaporate before printing.
04Validate on a sample
Adhesion depends on the substrate / ink combination: test before a production run.

● ● ● Applications
Where P2 makes the difference
- fluted or solid PP boards and panels for signage;
